Peter Barry (born 24 November 1974) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a left wing-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Kilkenny, Barry first excelled at hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of nineteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny under-21 team. He joined the senior panel during the 1996 championship. Barry later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won three All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and three National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team, Barry won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level he is a one-time All-Ireland-winning captain with James Stephens. In addition to this he has also won two Leinster medals and two championship medals. Throughout his career Barry made 37 championship appearances. He retired from inter-county hurling in June 2006. ==Playing career==
